2018 Summer Reading Requirements
Grade 9
9A |
All entering grade 9A students will choose and read one book from the list of grades 9/10 choices or a teacher approved book of their choice. Personal book choice must be approved by your teacher by June 15th.

9Honors |
All entering grade 9 Honors students will read the introduction and PART ONE: “The Gods, the Creation, and the Earliest Heroes” in Mythology by Edith Hamilton AND a book of your choice from the 9th/10th grade list.

Grade 10
10A |
All entering grade 10A students will choose and read one book from the list of grades 9/10 choices or a teacher approved book of their choice. Personal book choice must be approved by your teacher by June 15th.

10Honors |
All entering grade 10 Honors students will read The Crucible by Arthur Miller and will choose and read one book from the list of grades 9/10 choices or a teacher approved book of their choice. Personal book choice must be approved by your teacher by June 15th.

AP Seminar |
All entering grade 10/11 AP Seminar students will choose and read one non-fiction book from the list of AP Seminar choices, and complete the assigned tasks.

11A |
All entering grade 11A students will choose and read one book from the list of grades 11/12 choices or a teacher approved book of their choice. Personal book choice must be approved by your teacher by June 15th.

All entering grade 11 Honors students will read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

11AP |
All entering grade 11 AP students will read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, a book of your choice from the 11/12th grade lists, and participate in the New York Times Summer Reading Contest.
Steps:
* "Although the New York Times considers this a contest, for the purposes of English 11 AP summer reading the posts are required. To demonstrate your participation, read these directions."

AP Seminar |

All entering grade 12 Monsters, Murder, and Madness will choose and read one book from the Monster Book List or a teacher approved book of their choice. Personal book choice must be approved by your teacher by June 15th.

All entering 12 AP students will read How to Read Literature Like a Professor (Revised) by Thomas C. Foster, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.
